Bathroom Transformations: Huge Changes on a Small Budget

March 10, 2015

If a major bathroom overhaul isn’t in your budget, simply updating portions of your space can still leave a substantial impression. New flooring, cabinets or fixtures can give the room a whole new look.

Flooring:  It’s not an overwhelming amount of space, so replacing or upgrading your bathroom floors is more affordable than you think.  A floorcovering that is impervious to water like tile or vinyl is ideal to install. With so many styles and colors to choose from, this option is practical for any “wet area” in your home.

Cabinets:  Updating your cabinets can make a bold statement.  Because the bathroom cabinet system is typically small in comparison to an entire kitchen, the investment is often fairly low.  If replacing is not an option, consider adding eye catching hardware.

Fixtures & Accents:  Sometimes the most obvious choice is in the details.  Replacing outdated faucets, lighting and updating towel bars is a relatively small investment to give your bathroom the facelift it needs.  This option could result in savings with environmentally friendly water flow systems, light bulbs and other “green” selections available.  Backsplashes aren’t just for your kitchen.  Consider adding a mosaic border behind the sink, in the shower…even take the tile or stone vertical creating a focal point out of a ordinarily plan wall.

To summarize and get the most out of your transformation, keep in mind the use of the space and focus on one or two things at a time.  The long term enjoyment and/or return on investment will make this project the inspiration for the rest of your home!
