Domestic or Imported? The Flavor of Hardwood

June 18, 2010

Domestic or Imported?  We aren’t talking beer here but hardwood floors.  The National Wood Flooring Association lists 34 species of hardwoods used in flooring which is just a few more than Baskin & Robbins and more than enough to fit any style, taste or budget.

If you want something “home brewed” for your floors there are plenty of domestic hardwood species available to choose.  The most popular are Red & White Oak or Southern Yellow & Antique Heart Pine. These four species are readily available and have excellent durability.

Looking for something slightly more exotic? Popular imported hardwood flooring choices include Brazilian Cherry, Merbau, Cork and Bamboo.  Bamboo and Cork flooring are also known as “green” products as they are both renewable.  The availability, cost and  durability of these species have a wide range so you should talk to your ProSource of Pinellas County  team to assist you in making the right hardwood choice.

Thank you for taking the time out of your busy day to read this article and hoped you enjoyed it.  If you’d like more information on laminates, hardwoods, bamboo, carpet, tile, natural stone, or any other types of flooring, please contact ProSource of Pinellas County 727-545-9935 or visit our website at www.prosourcefloors.com/pinellascounty.
